A New Look For The Three Dog Blog

Well, as you can see things have changed rather dramatically here.

As the site has grown I have felt that it was no longer “flowing” very well, so I have gone for a major overhaul.

I felt that all the Categories, Links, etc.etc. were just not looking right all squeezed down one side.

I still have a little bit more work to do but I think it looks a lot better and I really like the new colour scheme.

Can you all let me know what you think.

Is it an improvement? Do you prefer the old look?

Can you even remember what it looked like?

Ah, how easily we forget!

Normal business shall be resumed tomorrow.

May the Doggie Force be with you all.

  1. It will take a bit to get used to, but I think it will work!!

    any idea why you chose a design that spans the entire screen as opposed to a fixed width design??

    Unless it’s a business blog, I don’t place to much emphasis on how blogs look. I read blogs mainly for the content. Which is why I come here.

    But as long as you’re asking for constructive criticism…

    This is a doggy blog, but you can hardly tell. it would be great if there were some big doggy pictures that jumped out at the reader when they clicked on this page.

    Can you include some photos of your bonker-dogs? (In the banner, perhaps? If that’s possible…).

  3. I like the big open feeling of the blog. It looks clean & uncluttered. It does need a dog pic in the header tho.

    Hi Guys, Thanks for the comments. Much appreciated.

    Friar and Cathy, that is my next step. I just want to get the right images in the Header. I have been trawling through the (way too many) photos of the bone munchers. I just need to make a decision I guess!

    Follow up…. I’m trying and completely failing to add images in the header. I just can’t figure it out. Code is not my strong point. If anyone can give me some very simple instructions to follow it would be much appreciated.

    I’m not a code expert. Far from it.

    But do you have the ability to make a “Custom Header”?

    Maybe you can do it by Brute Force. (put something together on Photoshop and then import it). That’s what I did with my blog.

  6. I love the new blog. I do hope you can get the header the way you want it. If not I still love it the way it is. Looking forward to seeing other changes you are going to make.

  8. Can you set a background image in your stylesheet? I haven’t done much yet to format my header but I finally got around to adding a little picture of Dennis by editing the CSS:

    #sitename {
    color:#ffffff;
    text-align:left;
    height:90px;
    background-image:url(http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2304/2266345247_aa476bfef8_t.jpg);
    background-attachment:fixed;
    background-repeat:no-repeat;
    background-position:90% 1%;
    }

    Dennis I will give it a go. I have been messing with the stylesheeet on and off since yesterday now.

    I just cant get any code to work. The problem is the header has no image to replace just a colour. Whenever, and whatever code I try nothing seems to happen.

    Thanks for the snippet, I will give it a try.

    Well, thanks to everyone trying to help me out. Code is definitely not my strong point. Thanks to Dennis for the snippet but it didn’t seem to work either.

    Anyway I tried something and it worked.

    So in the stylesheet css where it had
    background: #bcbc9a;

    I simply replaced it with
    background-image:url(http://thethreedogblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/headerdaisy.jpg);

    Thanks to dennis for that bit. I had tried alternatives and it didn’t work.

    So if anyone wants to change their header image just do what I did but replace my url in the brackets with wherever your image is hosted.

    Anyway, what do you think of the header now?
