No Dead Dogs Today

Well, my heart rate can finally return to normal.

After a mad dash out and a dreaded drive back I am pleased to report there were to very abashed and tired Dogs sitting outside the front door.

I am so relieved. This was one of those incidents where you can’t help but fear for the worst.

I don’t know why they acted so out of character. Daisy has been with us for over a year and this kind of behaviour is so out of character. They were suitably told off in a stern voice but they already knew that their behaviour was VERY wrong.

I shall be keeping a close watch on Daisy and Jet and if there is a repeat incident then the freedom they enjoy at the moment shall have to be reviewed.

This is definitely one of the problems we face when having the responsibilty of caring for animals. There are countless times that they can cause you worry,Vet visits, running off, strange behaviour, when they won’t eat etc.

It’s just a good job they are such wonderful companions!

Several years ago 2 of my dogs pulled that stunt just as we were sitting down to Christmas Eve dinner. As you can expect, dinner was less than festive!

After dinner my sons and I went out in search and found them on their way home – smelling like they’d gotten into a swamp.

Another time they went out with me to feed horses in the morning and disappeared. I bundled up and tromped through the snow for a couple of hours, following footprints and calling. Finally, defeated, I headed for the house. When I got within a couple hundred yards, here they came… FROM the house. They got home long before I did.

My dogs have gone from the car to the front door hundreds of times. Suddenly last week they decided that it was a good time to explore the neighborhood and get a serious case of deafness. Go figure.

  4. Our Chihuahuas stay close when we are outside but our Dachshund is a wanderer. If you turn your back for on second he is GONE!

Glad to see it all worked out for you. = )

Thanks for all your kind words everyone. I was, to say the least, relieved. Everyone is on their best behaviour today. I think they knew they were very naughty indeed.
